Cost of Living

Conroe participates in the Cost of Living Index, produced by The Council for Community and Economic Research (C2ER). This index provides a useful and accurate measure of living cost differences among urban areas.

The index is completed three times a year and measures relative price levels for consumer goods and services in participating areas. The average for all participating places equals 100%. Each participant’s index is read as a percentage of the average for all places. In other words, a score of 93% means that it is less expensive than the average, and a score of 120% means it is more expensive.

Conroe’s current Cost of Living score is 93.4%.

Affordability is key to Conroe's growth and demographics. Recent college graduates, entry level laborers, retirees, families, and executives can all afford to live here.

This chart will assist you in comparing the overall index score, along with groceries, housing, utilities, transportation, and health care between Conroe and other communities.
