Old Montgomery County Hospital now revamped into senior-living apartments receives historical marker

    September 16, 2025

On the anniversary of the Montgomery County Hospital building opening in 1938, the landmark property received a historical marker celebrating its place in health care history.

The hospital on First Street in Conroe opened Sept. 15, 1938, to serve the medical needs of a then-growing oil town. For more than 40 years the building served as a medical center for the Montgomery County region.

The building operated as a hospital until the early 1980s. It then fell into disrepair before Kansas-based Overland Property Group transformed the old hospital building into senior-living apartments which opened in August 2024.
