Conroe’s Ways-to-Wellness: Celebrating National Wellness Month

    August 1, 2024

You can’t pour from an empty cup! Prioritizing physical and mental health gives you the energy and desire to care for loved ones, complete responsibilities, and enjoy the journey.

National Wellness Month started in 2018, by Live Love Spa. As the website states, “Wellness Month is a nationally recognized month dedicated to self-care, creating healthy routines, and stress management.” Conroe EDC is hoping to inspire you and others to make yourself the priority, not a priority, starting now!

    What is Wellness?

Many explanations of wellness only incorporate part of its true meaning. “By definition, Wellness is the quality or state of being healthy in body and mind, especially as a result of deliberate effort. Also referenced as an approach to healthcare that emphasizes preventing illness and prolonging life, as opposed to emphasizing treating diseases.” - Guiding Wellness

The Global Wellness Institute says, “Wellness is multidimensional,” and lists the six core pillars as:

    • Physical
    • Mental
    • Emotional
    • Spiritual
    • Social
    • Environmental

Ensuring each core pillar is addressed, well tended to, and balanced with the others will, in turn, produce the best wellness for each individual.

    Ways-to-Wellness in Conroe

    Celebrating National Wellness Month includes:

    • Take the Pledge by snapping a selfie.
    • Post to Social your selfie with the “I Choose Wellness” phrase.
    • Follow the Calendar - each date is dedicated to a wellness action for men and women alike.

If nothing on the Wellness Calendar fits the bill, Conroe has ample options:

    • Connect with nature by visiting one of Conroe’s 18 parks.
    • Add a little physical activity at one of Conroe’s five recreation centers.
    • Enjoy a family outing and participate in one of Conroe’s athletic programs.
    • Get social and strengthen neighborly connections at one of Conroe’s Special Events.
    • Privately ease your mind and get in touch with your feelings by conversing with one of the many local therapists.
    • Tap into and release your creative side by taking an art class at Conroe Art League, seeing a live show at Crighton Theatre and Owen Theatre, listening to the Conroe Symphony Orchestra, or perusing the Heritage Museum of Montgomery.
    • Take an August weekend foodie tour and visit a different restaurant on the list of Conroe’s local favorites.

Whatever you choose, Conroe’s choices abound. To learn more about how to participate in National Wellness Month, explore the Live Love Spa website.
