Conroe Economic Development Council (CEDC) staff attended with several CEDC Advisory Board members, Conroe Industrial Development Corporation (CIDC) Board of Directors, City of Conroe City Council and staff members, and other business leaders for the Hyatt Regency Conroe and Convention Center Groundbreaking Celebration held on October 20, 2021.

Conroe Mayor Jody Czajkoski and Assistant City Administrator and Chief Financial Officer Steve Williams, who is also CIDC Treasurer, shared their excitement for the project during ceremony remarks and offered their gratitude and praise for project participants.

With an anticipated opening for the second quarter of 2023, the 41,000-square-foot convention center will consist of a 15,000-square-foot grand ballroom, 8,000-square-foot junior ballroom, 8,000 square feet of breakout and boardrooms, and pre-function space. The 250-room upper-upscale hotel will include amenities such as a full-service restaurant, full bar, pool deck, fitness facility, and a market.

The economic impact of the hotel and convention center is expected to be substantial. Hundreds of construction jobs will be generated to complete the project. Once completed, more than 300 more jobs will be filled to fully operate the hotel and convention center. Beyond jobs and investment tied directly to this project, the City expects it to spur economic success.

“The hotel project is going to be a catalyst for development. We expect to see property adjacent and near the hotel and convention center to become popular for commercial growth,” said Williams.
