FORT WORTH, TEXAS (October 21, 2021) – The Conroe Economic Development Council (CEDC), City of Conroe, Trammell Crow Company, and The Home Depot received a pair of Community Economic Development Awards (CEDA) from the Texas Economic Development Council (TEDC) for their recent Conroe project. The awards were presented October 14 at TEDC’s Annual Conference in Fort Worth.

The CEDC nominated developer Trammell Crow Company and their client, The Home Depot, for their role in the development of a distribution center in Conroe. Developed on a remediated Superfund site, the project required a significant brownfield redevelopment and the reactivation of a rail spur near Conroe’s downtown district. The project also helped spur the North Porter Road Expansion, a key north to south extension of FM 1314 through Conroe.

The project received the CEDA in the category of communities with a population between 50,001 and 100,000, as well as the award for Community Commitment and Leverage among all the 55 applications submitted across Texas, regardless of population.

“We are incredibly honored that the Texas Economic Development Council recognized this critically important development through the Community Economic Development Awards. This was one of the most complex projects the Conroe Economic Development Council has ever worked, making it even more rewarding,” said Danielle Scheiner, CEDC Executive Director. “The project was a result of hard work and collaboration. Everyone who played a role should be very proud.”

“Our Community Economic Development Award is one of the ways in which our organization honors the excellent work done by our communities, their leaders, and their economic development professionals,” offered Greg Sims, 2021 Chair of the Texas Economic Development Council. “Each community nominated achieved excellence in economic development and substantially improved the economic base of their respective regions. The recipient communities in each population category were recognized for extraordinary accomplishments in meeting the criteria set forth in the nomination process.”
