While virtual meetings still fill the majority of calendar spots, the month of April saw the return of several in-person presentations for the Conroe Economic Development Council (CEDC).

Leadership Montgomery County held an Economic Development Session at the Hughes Landing Band Shell in The Woodlands on April 1. Danielle Scheiner, CEDC Executive Director, and Gil Staley, The Woodlands Area Economic Development Partnership Chief Executive Officer, served as Session Directors. CEDC Deputy Director Laura Lea Palmer also assisted. Scheiner presented on what comprises economic development and served on a panel discussion moderated by Palmer. A tour of Conroe’s Deison Technology Park was also on the agenda.

On April 7, Scheiner and Palmer presented to the Conroe/Lake Conroe Chamber of Commerce’s Government Affairs Committee virtually. The business and community leaders listened intently as the two discussed Conroe’s current economic development happenings and the impact on the business community. Topics included an overview of the CEDC, 2020 and 2021 permit activity, activity in Conroe Park North and Deison Technology Park, updates on recent CEDC projects, and legislation affecting economic development. Following the presentation, the economic development professionals answered questions pertaining to projects, proposed legislation, and future development.

Scheiner also presented an economic development update to the Lions Club at the Lone Star Convention Center on April 7.
