Statement on death of former CIDC Chairman Mickey Deison

Deison was namesake of Conroe technology park

The Conroe Economic Development Council (CEDC) is saddened to learn of the passing of R.A. “Mickey” Deison. In addition to serving as Conroe Mayor and Montgomery County Judge, Deison advocated for economic development and served as the Conroe Industrial Development Corporation (CIDC) Chairman for many years.

In 2013, Conroe’s 248-acre Deison Technology Park was named for him in recognition of his economic vision for business growth in Conroe. Earlier this year, CIDC signed the park’s first occupant, VGXI, Inc., a manufacturer of plasmid DNA for vaccines and gene therapies. VGXI has broken ground to move its headquarters from The Woodlands to Deison Technology Park.

Deison lived in Conroe since 1948 and was a founding partner in the Downtown Conroe law firm Baggett, Gordon and Deison. Until very recently, Deison worked with clients and the CEDC on economic development deals in Conroe.

“We will miss seeing Mickey Deison in Downtown Conroe; yet, we are comforted to know that he was able to see his vision for the Deison Technology Park begin to take shape,” said Danielle Scheiner, CEDC Executive Director. “The park will be a lasting legacy to Mickey’s economic development vision.”
