Conroe EDC, Team Texas Exhibit Economic Strength for European Delegation

    August 14, 2017

The Conroe Economic Development Council (CEDC) recently hosted representatives from the European American Investment Council (EAIC) at La Torretta Resort during the EAIC’s four day trip through Texas. Conroe was one of six Texas cities to host the Texas Road Trip for EAIC to share what European companies are looking for in U.S. expansion opportunities.

Conroe already has benefitted from European expansion with multiple companies having located their businesses in Conroe Park North. Most recently, German-based Jungheinrich teamed up with Mitsubishi Caterpillar Forklift America, to form ICOTEX.  The grand opening of ICOTEX was held earlier this month.

The CEDC hosted the European delegation for breakfast at the La Torretta lakefront resort before a presentation about Conroe’s economic vitality and tour of Conroe. Fred Welch, Danielle Scheiner, Jennifer Matthews, and Linda Newman of the CEDC hosted the visit on behalf of Team Texas. Team Texas is an outreach program of the Texas Economic Development Council that helps promote job creation and capital investment in Texas cities.

Attending the Conroe visit on behalf of Team Texas included John Tarver (Entergy), Steve Pilgrim (Entergy), Rick Ellis (Katy EDC), Brian Malone (Pearland EDC), and Betty Russo (Office of the Governor). Other Houston-area communities joined in with presentations about their respective economic development efforts.

The EAIC delegation members included Matthias Beier, President & CEO of the EAIC, Jim Blair (Navigator Consulting), Dr. Ullrich Kaemmerer (Roadl & Partner) and Florian Stamm (Smith, Gamberll & Russell).

The visit from their European colleagues allowed Team Texas members to learn more about companies looking for expansion in the United States. For the CEDC, it was a chance to grow their strong overseas relations.

Team Texas held six meetings during the EAIC’s trip through the Lone Star State. In addition to Conroe, the visit took the EAIC delegation to regional meetings in Longview, Victoria, Brownsville, Seguin, and Waco. Over 25 economic development groups assisted throughout the Texas tour and helped share the message of a robust Texas economy.
