8th Annual Job Fair Displays Conroe’s Robust Economy and Labor Force

    February 3, 2020

CONROE, TEXAS (February 3, 2020) – More than 580 registered job seekers traveled through the rain to the Lone Star Convention Center for the 8th Annual Conroe Job Fair on January 28th. Nearly 50 companies and organizations hosted booths preparing to find their newest employees.

The full landscape of Conroe’s economy was on display, with a diverse group of employers on hand. Job opportunities in engineering, manufacturing, banking, hospitality, public safety, IT, and much more were open to job seekers. The wide range of opportunities was proof of Conroe’s thriving economic climate and a big reason for the large turnout.

“The list of employers and job openings really showed some of the best of what Conroe has to offer,” said Jennifer Matthews, Associate Director of the Conroe Economic Development Council. “Job seekers know that when they attend our job fair, they will likely be able to find something that matches their experience. We are very grateful that so many of our local companies invest in the job fair and help draw so many people excited to work in Conroe.”

Registered job seekers were eligible to apply for scholarships from Lone Star College-Conroe Center. The merit-based scholarships will be awarded to the applicants, upon the job fair committee’s review of the applications. These scholarships can be used to learn additional career skills or to enhance current skills needed to find a job.

“Awarding scholarships and positively impacting the lives of the recipients is a great component of the job fair,” added Matthews. “We have a great list of applicants this year that will make everyone involved with the job fair proud.”

The Conroe Job Fair is a collaborative effort between the Conroe EDC, Conroe/Lake Conroe Chamber, Lone Star College-Conroe Center, and Workforce Solutions. Sponsoring this year’s job fair were event underwriters, Crown Beverage Packaging and ResourceMFG; facility sponsor, The Lone Star Convention and Expo Center; hospitality room sponsor, Spectrum; printing sponsor, Colortech Direct; media sponsor, JobSparx; and decoration sponsor, Cantel. Caney Creek High School students assisted through the creation of the table arrangements.
