American Furniture Warehouse Chooses Conroe for Latest Expansion

    April 20, 2020

CONROE, TEXAS (April 20, 2020) -One of the top retail furniture companies in the United States has selected Conroe as the site of their next store. Colorado-based American Furniture Warehouse recently purchased 30 acres at Interstate 45 and River Plantation Drive, just south of Grand Central Park. The company plans to build a 443,375 square foot store, with 150,000 square feet of space dedicated to the showroom and 293,375 square feet of warehouse storage.

The project is currently in the design phase. Construction is expected to begin in the third quarter of 2020, with a grand opening targeted for the end of 2021. The company plans to hire around 250 employees when the store opens and projects to grow employment to more than 400 at the store’s full maturity. Available jobs will include sales associates, warehouse supervisors, drivers, shop mechanics, and more.

The Conroe store will be American Furniture Warehouse’s third Houston-area location. American Furniture Warehouse chose Conroe for its available land, access to interstates, and rapid population growth.

“Conroe checks all the boxes for what we look for when we expand,” offered American Furniture Warehouse Executive, Nolan Morrison. “The accessibility to land, infrastructure, and people makes Conroe a perfect fit for American Furniture Warehouse.”

American Furniture Warehouse prides itself on an unmatched customer experience. Focused on an honest, low pressure environment, fair prices, and great selection, Morrison says the company’s goal is to create an experience that is better than shopping at home.

Morrison also mentioned the importance of having partners who buy into the American Furniture Warehouse principles. These partners include the Conroe Economic Development Council (Conroe EDC) and the City of Conroe.

“We have already created meaningful relationships in Conroe. The Conroe EDC listened to our needs and moved quickly to connect us with important resources, including the City of Conroe. The City has been incredibly hospitable and allowed us to make this Conroe expansion a reality,” added Morrison.

The Conroe EDC echoes the company’s excitement for this project, as American Furniture Warehouse offers many benefits to the Conroe community.

“In American Furniture Warehouse, we are adding more than an established furniture retailer. This project will bring Conroe hundreds of jobs, millions of dollars in investment, and a committed community partner” said Danielle Scheiner, Executive Director of the Conroe EDC. “We are excited to welcome American Furniture Warehouse to Conroe.”
