Margaritaville Lake Resort Sees Safe, Successful Grand Opening
September 23, 2020
The ability to escape to a nearby exciting destination of idyllic lake life with an island feel proved an attractive draw during the COVID-19 pandemic. Margaritaville Lake Resort, Lake Conroe | Houston (less than a four-hour drive from 20 million Texans) welcomed an encouraging surge of guests from around the region during a bustling first month after opening June 26.
“Demand has been strong. People are enjoying the experience Margaritaville Lake Resort provides,” offered Tom Faust, Vice President, Sales and Marketing. “Guests are noticing how the Margaritaville experience makes you feel like you are in the Caribbean. It is like you have escaped to somewhere far away.”
Margaritaville Lake Resort is safely navigating the difficulties presented by the coronavirus with a sincere commitment to health and sanitation. Operating at 50% capacity to ensure safety of employees and guests, Margaritaville Lake Resort established comprehensive health protocols that follow corporate, local, state and federal guidelines.
These health standards allow guests to safely explore the resort’s 186 acres and enjoy various amenities and activities. The list of offerings — five Margaritaville-inspired restaurants and bars, an 18-hole golf course, a three-acre waterpark, boat rentals and the full-service St. Somewhere Spa — continues to grow.
“You can spend a week here with an endless amount of fun. Guests can stay busy with recreational activities all day or simply relax by the pool,” added Faust. “Our Recreation Director is always coming up with new ideas. There is something for everyone.”
Margaritaville Lake Resort is not just drawing the attention of tourists; companies are realizing the opportunity to hold their events at Lake Conroe’s newest destination. A 72,000 square-foot indoor/outdoor IACC-approved meeting space can hold meetings of any size. And Margaritaville Lake Resort adopted the phrase “Serious learning, serious fun” to appeal to the business traveler.
“Learning and fun do not have to be mutually exclusive at Margaritaville Lake Resort,” said Faust.
Due to the pandemic, event planning has become a challenge for many; therefore, the resort developed the Margaritaville Meetings Acceleration Program that allows companies and planners to manage the risk around the planning experience. The resort is offering a “Zero Risk Clause” eliminating attrition and cancellation fees until 60 days in advance of arrival on events scheduled between now and March 31, 2021.
Additionally, Socially Distanced Meeting Sets have been implemented at the resort. With more than a dozen floorplans available, these best practices allow teams to meet together in a safe environment for learning.
“Combined with the Margaritaville commitment to health and sanitation, these efforts help eliminate much of the risk around meeting planning,” added Faust.
Margaritaville Lake Resort currently employs approximately 300 team members to assist with operations across the property. Faust expects the resort will add to the team when corporate events begin occurring more frequently. He added that his team is already planning events as far out as 2022, speaking to the allure and easy accessibility of the resort.
The resort is a joint venture of Songy Highroads and The Wampold Companies. Margaritaville Lake Resort is operated by Benchmark Resorts & Hotels, under the management of BENCHMARK, a global hospitality company.
